If you’re reading this you’re probably here to find out a bit more about the artist. In which case, you’re in the right place! I’m Kent. I’ve been a practicing freelance illustrator, character designer, and all-around adventurous pixel-pusher for the good portion of a decade now. Since I graduated from Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2019 I’ve assumed many roles in the creative field. For the past three years I’ve acted as art director and lead designer of a pixel art game project called FiliP which has included everything from sprites and concept art to entire environments and tile maps; I’ve done a myriad of illustrations for many clients; designed numerous characters in a variety of styles; I’ve even created apparel design and patterning.
Art has been an immense part of my life since the moment I could put pencil to paper. As someone who always enjoys learning something new I’ve always found art to be a very explorative and engaging process. The act of drawing a subject, rendering it, and truly trying to understand its nuance and complexities is an irreplaceable and mind expanding process for me. It’s always been a fascinating way to arrive at new understandings of our own world whether that be through the study of anatomy, lighting, color, or things that perhaps speak more to how our brains work such as what is pleasing in a composition, how a scene is framed, or the symbolism we choose to use or allude to. There are a gratuitous amount of other design elements out there too and they all inform one another.
If you’re looking for someone to help you breathe life into something you’re passionate about whether that is a character for a story you’ve made, a game that’s in progress, a character for your next dungeon and dragons campaign, or you’d just love to have something beautiful and original; I’d love to help make what you’ve imagined a reality.
